Coming to a new place isn’t easy, we know, but here on the islands, we try to make it as low-stress as possible. On Sundays, you’ll see some people in suits and dresses, some folks in shorts (even sometimes the priest), and some in something in between.

Our worship is reverent but not fussy. We try to help newcomers know their way around our prayers and hymns. If you want to learn more about the when, how, and why of our worship, then you can find some answers on our Worship page (link to “Worship”).

Most of all, we want you to find a place where you feel closer to God by being in community. A place to love God by loving your neighbor. That’s what we’ve found here at St. Francis, and we know what kind of a blessing it can be.

If you’re thinking of trying us out, then we would love to meet you. Our services are at 8:00 and 10:30, and there’s plenty of parking. Our parking lot is one-way, so enter from the Walthour Road side and exit on the OemlerLoop side.

Our worship comes from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, so you’ll be able to follow along even if you’ve never been in an Episcopal Church before. (And it’s fine if you don’t know all the words! Part of the reason that we pray together is so that we can say the prayers with and for each other.)

After worship, there’s a coffee hour in our Parish Hall, usually with some light refreshments. Once a month, we have a food truck in our parking lot, and some folks will have lunch together in the Parish Hall. You’re welcome to join in and get to know some of us a little more personally.

St. Francis of the Islands is a loving group of people seeking to follow in the footsteps of Christ. We have heard the Good News of life that Christ brings, and we can’t wait to share this Good News with the world. We are a friendly and laidback community seeking to love and serve God and our neighbors, located on Wilmington Island (between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island). Like most churches, St. Francis of the Islands only exists because of the generosity of its members. Stewardship is about managing the time, talent, and treasure that have been given to us by God, and using them for the furtherance of God’s kingdom, both here at St. Francis and in the wider world. As people who have received the grace of God, we believe that gratitude and generosity are the way we are meant to respond. By giving back to God what God has given us, we recognize God as the source of all good things, and doing so helps to shape us into people who reflect God’s goodness to the world. We are grateful for any way that you can contribute to the work of making God’s kingdom a reality on earth.

Every year we run an annual pledge campaign to determine the budget for the upcoming year. Our primary goal is 100% participation. If you are able to pledge and haven’t already, we encourage you to do so, no matter the amount. To make generosity part of your spiritual discipline by making a pledge, please be in touch with our office. While we run the annual campaign for a set period in the fall, we can add a pledge of time, talent, and/or treasure at any time of year.

The Joy of Belonging

At St. Francis, we really like each other. That’s why we have a few different groups for fellowship and service to the St. Francis Community and beyond. If you’re looking for an easy way to get connected, then you’ve come to the right place.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is a group for women’s fellowship at St. Francis that gathers regularly and plans special activities intended to be spiritual, interesting, and enlightening. All women of St. Francis are officially members and welcome at meetings of the ECW.

St. Francis Men’s Club

The Men’s Club at St. Francis is committed to projects for the betterment of the Church, outreach within our community, and brotherly fellowship amongst its members. All men of St. Francis are members and welcome at meetings of the Men’s Club.

Daughters of the King (DOK)

The Daughters of the King (DOK) is a group for women who pledge themselves to a lifelong program of prayer, service, and evangelism dedicated to the spread of God’s kingdom. They also maintain a list of parishioners and loved ones in need of prayer and pray for them daily.

Knitters

We have a group of knitters which meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 10 am. Anyone is welcome to join!
