Coming to a new place isnât easy, we know, but here on the islands, we try to make it as low-stress as possible. On Sundays, youâll see some people in suits and dresses, some folks in shorts (even sometimes the priest), and some in something in between.
Our worship is reverent but not fussy. We try to help newcomers know their way around our prayers and hymns. If you want to learn more about the when, how, and why of our worship, then you can find some answers on our Worship page (link to âWorshipâ).
Most of all, we want you to find a place where you feel closer to God by being in community. A place to love God by loving your neighbor. Thatâs what weâve found here at St. Francis, and we know what kind of a blessing it can be.
If youâre thinking of trying us out, then we would love to meet you. Our services are at 8:00 and 10:30, and thereâs plenty of parking. Our parking lot is one-way, so enter from the Walthour Road side and exit on the OemlerLoop side.
Our worship comes from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, so youâll be able to follow along even if youâve never been in an Episcopal Church before. (And itâs fine if you donât know all the words! Part of the reason that we pray together is so that we can say the prayers with and for each other.)
After worship, thereâs a coffee hour in our Parish Hall, usually with some light refreshments. Once a month, we have a food truck in our parking lot, and some folks will have lunch together in the Parish Hall. Youâre welcome to join in and get to know some of us a little more personally.
St. Francis of the Islands is a loving group of people seeking to follow in the footsteps of Christ. We have heard the Good News of life that Christ brings, and we canât wait to share this Good News with the world. We are a friendly and laidback community seeking to love and serve God and our neighbors, located on Wilmington Island (between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island). Like most churches, St. Francis of the Islands only exists because of the generosity of its members. Stewardship is about managing the time, talent, and treasure that have been given to us by God, and using them for the furtherance of Godâs kingdom, both here at St. Francis and in the wider world. As people who have received the grace of God, we believe that gratitude and generosity are the way we are meant to respond. By giving back to God what God has given us, we recognize God as the source of all good things, and doing so helps to shape us into people who reflect Godâs goodness to the world. We are grateful for any way that you can contribute to the work of making Godâs kingdom a reality on earth.

Every year we run an annual pledge campaign to determine the budget for the upcoming year. Our primary goal is 100% participation. If you are able to pledge and havenât already, we encourage you to do so, no matter the amount. To make generosity part of your spiritual discipline by making a pledge, please be in touch with our office. While we run the annual campaign for a set period in the fall, we can add a pledge of time, talent, and/or treasure at any time of year.
We are currently in the process of rethinking our Sunday School. Instead of meeting every Sunday, we are moving to a hybrid model, with some materials to do as a family at home and in-person gatherings one Sunday a month. Stay tuned for more details!
